New Job!

October 1st, 2006

As of September 29th, I no longer work at TiVo. I left after 6 years of developing TiVo DVR platforms and changing the way people watch TV. It was a lot of fun but in the end it was also time to look for a fresh new challenge that would allow me to stretch my experience in a different direction.

So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish

I will start working at Adobe Systems on October 9th as Sr. Manager of Engineering, Online Services and Photoshop Elements. I will be developing and launching several new online services related to digital imaging and digital asset management.

I happened to be in the market for a portable photo storage solution as well, due to an upcoming vacation trip.

Personally, I would not buy the iPod Camera Connector attachment because the whole point is to have a single self-contained unit and more importantly not to tie up the camera (or its batteries) while transferring images. Besides, I don’t have iPod to begin with.

The Epson P-2000 looked very nice, but also very pricey! Makes for a juicy target for crooks.

Right now I am test driving an Archos Gmini400 from Fry’s (gotta love 30-day returns). Here are my observations. Read the rest of this entry »

Compaq iPAQ Storage Brick

October 1st, 2004

I have created a 20GB “storage brick” from a IBM Travelstar 20GN drive mounted inside an Addonics Pocket ExDrive enclosure kit. The drive is connected to my Compaq iPAQ H3630 using a PC Card Expansion Pack and the Addonics PCMCIA adapter/cable. Read the rest of this entry »
