This project was based on a much more plain version I saw in Children’s Discovery Museum here in San Jose, CA. We had recently received two Chinese opera hand puppets as gifts, and my wife started performing ad hoc theatrical performances to amuse the kids. I decided that she needed a proper stage for the performances. Regardless, the performances are a big hit with the kids!
The stage was made of 3/4″ cherry treated with Cherry Minwax Wood Finish and two coats of clear satin Minwax Polyurethane. The raised decorations are from a local lumber yard. The curtain fabrics, tassels and hardware are from a local fabric/sewing store.
